Buffalo Wild Wings - Food Review

I recently was given the task to review a restaurant for my creative writing class. One of the requirements of this restaurant review was I had to write about a restaurant I had never been to prior to the review. I struggled at finding a restaurant that I had never been to because of how busy I had been during the project window. Until one day where a few of my friends started talking about wings. As they discussed their favorite sauces and places to eat, I realized that I had never had wings in my life. NOT A SINGLE WING. It was decided; I would do my analysis on a restaurant that specializes in wings. Buffalo Wild Wings was the first restaurant to come to mind, so that's where I went.
My experience with Buffalo Wild Wings began with ordering the wings online at work. I ordered a 12 wing box with fries for $12, which is fairly cheap compared to other fast food restaurants considering the 12 wings could feed 2. I got 4 different flavors of boneless wings: The Original Buffalo Sauce because it's the most known flavor, The Nashville Hot because its my uncles favorite flavor, The Asian Zing because it was suggested by a co-worker and The Bourbon Honey Mustard because it sounded appealing to my tastes. They replied that my order would be ready in 20 minutes. I got out of work and we drove to Buffalo Wild Wings.
Buffalo Wild Wings had a lot going on inside. Loud music, people talking, TV’s playing football games and a bar. There were posters, jerseys and other wall designs filling out what would be empty walls. Drunks and sports fans were all sitting at the bar. Parties of 4 and 5 would all sit in booths. There were a few plants that lined the walls. The restaurant almost made me feel claustrophobic. It was so loud and crowded, which makes the socially anxious part of me uneasy. I expected this, which is the main reason why I ordered take out. The servers gave us our food, then we paid and left.
I arrived home. Now it was time to taste test all of the wings. I was disappointed when I saw that they messed up my order. My Original Buffalo Sauce wings were dry rubbed instead of being sauced wings. This was a slight disappointment that I was willing to look past. I started my dinner with the fries. The fries were crispy and golden with a massive amount of pepper on them. The pepper was surprisingly not overbearing, and in fact was the only thing keeping the fries from being completely tasteless. The fries were moderate. Then I tried the wings. The Asian Zing tasted like it came straight from an asian restaurant. The dry rub buffalo wings, that I didn’t ask for, tasted like chicken with a nasty hot powder covering on them. The Nashville Hot sauce reminded of ribs, but spicier. The Bourbon Honey Mustard tasted exactly like a hot and spicy honey mustard. The wings were very enjoyable. They were spicy, but not completely ruined by the heat. The weren’t too salty and still had a sweetness to them. My biggest complaint about the sauced wings is that after I had a few of the Asain Zing wings, everything else I ate tasted like them. Overall the taste of the food was good for a chain restaurant.
Buffalo Wild Wings, in my opinion, is a generic bar-like restaurant with better than average wings. The service is comparable to that of a Mcdonalds or Burger King. The food is slightly better then that of a fast food restaurant. The atmosphere is almost a perfect copy of a bar. Buffalo Wild Wings is one of those restaurants where you might want go occasionally if your in the mood, but doesn’t offer much in the way of greatness.
